Reflection Day 3

Reflections Day 3

The new resources that I found were how to use educreations and Ted Nesloney is my new friend :). I will concentrate on 3-4 new apps for my students to use fluently this coming school year. I am excited about teaching my students new things for technology this year.

I used screencastomatic for my videoing of my flipped lesson. Besides not liking my own voice,  it was so super awesome and EASY to use. I already have an idea of a few more videos that I can make using that app. Once you know exactly what you will say, it was easy to use.

My lesson I believe is on the digital blooms level of creating because they are having to generate a story on their own given a set of numbers. They are also evaluating their own problems as well as solving a problem from their peers.

Reflection Day 2

Reflection Day 2

I enjoy looking for new things to do with my students. I have been interested in Project Based Learning for some time now. I found a resource that gives me ideas on how to implement this into my classroom. I feel a project based learning project will automatically infuse technology in all aspects from research to presenting.

I loved the energy of Todd Nesloney. I went to youtube and watched a few more of his videos. I learned that the students will be more excited about learning if you do it in a flipped style classroom. I also learned that initially it will be a lot of time to set up but once it is done, you have it forever and are not having to recreate it every year.

My second graders struggle with word problems in Math. They struggle with all aspects of it from determining what operation to the actual solving of the problem. They will use Paint to create and illustrate.

Crushing the Barriers

Crushing Technology Barriers:

As an educator I need to also be a problem solver. My barriers can be crushed by first using the technology that is in my classroom. I also have personal devices at home that I could bring up to put on the BYOD for the kids to use.

As far as time, I need to utilize my computer lab time more efficiently. I could use the ipads during that time slot to teach the whole class the app that they will use or the website. This is a great article about implementing technology into your classroom.

Our grade level has created a symbaloo for the students to explore on their own pace as well. The difficulty level of the apps will depend on my students exposer to the devices as well as their knowledge of the content http://avc.castleberryisd.net/staff_directory/2nd_grade/2nd_grade_symbaloo/

Fellow teachers can look at my Pinterst board for technolgy ideas that I have found interesting.

Reflection Day 1

Reflection  Day1

Something new that I learned today was how to use the Google Drive and what it actually is and how it works. I also learned how to add to a google doc. I also learned the technology “blooms” ladder (SAMR). I will be using that as a reference often.

The one application that I could use with my second graders would be blogging kidblog.. I think that as 2nd graders their writing skills would improve and their creative juices could flow if they are allowed to blog about whatever topic they felt was important or about a topic that I gave them for them week.

A possible lesson that could be infused with technology is a word study lesson. I could use the quizlet to create sight words, vocabulary words, or spelling words. The kids could use this app very easily to create their own study cards

1.9 Four Barriers Post

The Four Barriers

The first barrier I face when I infuse technology is making sure that I have the available devices to use for the lesson. It is hard to share and sometimes plan ahead if you think of a great infusion. My students need to be able to explore and work at their own pace. The next barrier I face is to ensure I have enough time to introduce what app or website I am using and to make sure my students fully understand the use of the technology.  Second graders need a little more time to explore and understand what is expected. Another barrier I may face is the difficulty level of usage of the web app or app for my second graders.  Sometimes the difficulty level is too hard for them to understand and stay engaged. The last barrier I face is that I have time to fully use, understand and be able to trouble shoot any problems that arise during the lesson or the evaluation. My students need a lot of assistance when using technology.
