The Four Barriers
The
first barrier I face when I infuse technology is making sure that I have the
available devices to use for the lesson. It is hard to share and sometimes plan
ahead if you think of a great infusion. My students need to be able to explore
and work at their own pace. The next barrier I face is to ensure I have enough
time to introduce what app or website I am using and to make sure my students
fully understand the use of the technology. Second graders need a little more time to
explore and understand what is expected. Another barrier I may face is the
difficulty level of usage of the web app or app for my second graders. Sometimes the difficulty level is too hard for
them to understand and stay engaged. The last barrier I face is that I
have time to fully use, understand and be able to trouble shoot any problems that
arise during the lesson or the evaluation. My students need a lot of
assistance when using technology.
Try to pick maybe three new creation apps this year and set the goals of students being proficient in those three. Know that I am always available to come and be an extra set of hands when you are first introducing a new application or technology to your class! I LOVE being a part of student learning. Have you considered asking 5th grade if they have any students that could lend a helping hand in your class? You are such a positive leader in our district and your attitude is a true blessing to your students, team, campus and all those that come in contact with you.
